As the cold weather turns to warm, the Bass fishing team gets ready for the start of the season in March. The main events take place at lakes that are relatively close to Springfield. These include Table Rock, Stockton and Lake of the Ozarks (which is the farthest away).

“Kickapoo is consistent in the fish we catch. Although we don’t have the top weight, we are very consistent,” senior Alex Garoutte said.

There is one tournament every month, and the rules are simple. Two team members are allowed per boat, with a limit of five fish that can be caught per boat. At the end of each tournament, the teams are given awards to whomever placed highest in total fish weight. There is also a separate award for the top three biggest fish caught in the tournament.

The Bass fishing team will be competing in the fishing championship in June. This final tournament is two days long with only three qualifying teams. For more information about the Bass fishing team contact Mr. Blackburn or any of the team members.
