As the upcoming track season approaches, both the boys and girls teams prepare for another strong season.
While the team has a number of strong seniors, a handful of underclassmen are expected to play a key role this season.
“We are always looking for underclassmen to step up and this year we have sophomores Josh Lawson and Andrew Sweet who both had great cross country seasons as well as Payton Marlin who is slowly coming off of an injury,” senior Jarod Ozee said.
Even though the underclassmen will play a big role, the upperclassmen, including senior Jarod Ozee have big expectations for the team and themselves.
“As a team, winning the Ozark Conference meet is always the first goal at hand,” Ozee said.
The team has a schedule full of competitive races including the Kansas Relays and the Nixa Invitational. Yet, there is always a few races that stand out more than others.
“The most important race is the Hillcrest Invitational. It is probably the biggest meet of all the preseason meets. It is definitely the meet I’m looking forward to the most,” Ozee said.
The team has been working hard this off-season both on and off the track. With a confident outlook, the team feels more prepared than ever to have an excellent season.
