FBLA Goes to State

Future Business Leaders of America, (FBLA) has recently won 37 amount of district awards and 48 students from Kickapoo are going onto State.

These awards vary from accounting to word processing. This has been the first time that Kickapoo has won this many awards.

FBLA districts were on February 4th at Missouri State. State competition is on April 19-21 at Missouri State. The top four groups that win at State will continue onto Nationals, which are in Utah this year.

“This is very exciting and has been the most we have won. I am ready and I am getting people prepared for their events,” Woody said.

Bowling Club

The bowling club is one of the many events that take place at Kickapoo. Bowling starts after winter break and is a very competitive club.

Bowling club practices at Andy B’s, starting after winter break. Senior Spencer Robarge is very excited to bowl this year and has been practicing very hard in the offseason.

“We are getting ready to start and hoping we have a good team coming together. Personally, I had a 300-846 about a month ago” Robarge said.

A 300 is a perfect score and 900 is a perfect score in three games. He is very excited and has been practicing for bowling by winning national events.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS) is one of many clubs at Kickapoo that participates in volunteer work. This weekend NHS is participating in bell ringing outside of Hy-Vee and Walmart.

According to the NHS.us, the requirements to be eligible, at a minimum, students must have a cumulative GPA of 85, B, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Each school is allowed to require a higher cumulative GPA.

At Kickapoo, there are select students who are picked to become an officer. To become an officer, you have to fill out a form and go through the NHS council.  Will Nichols is a junior NHS officer and is very excited about bell ringing.

“I feel like they are a really good thing and they are definitely helping with the community around us,” Nichols said.

NHS has various service projects such as helping at the fall carnival and participate in the canned food drive.
