FBLA Year Recap
With everything starting to return to normal after two years of cancellations and distancing, FBLA has had an amazing 2021-2022 year. While not everything is totally back to how it was, they made the most out of it and had a great time, while achieving many awards.
Future Business Leaders of America is led by Dr. Wooderson. FBLA helps students going into the business world prepare through competitions, programs, and events. Kickapoo’s chapter of FBLA has had quite the year.
The program hosted a food drive event as well as bell ringing for the Salvation Army. They took a trip to Silver Dollar City for a career day as well. Later in the year, they competed at districts at Missouri State University, where they earned many fantastic awards. A few weeks following districts, the FBLA program represented Kickapoo at the state competition at the University Plaza Convention Center.
Junior Alexandra Henry has participated in FBLA throughout the entire year, and speaks positively about her achievements, as well as her experiences.
“The biggest accomplishment for me this year was definitely earning big rewards for putting in so much time and hard work. We spent a long time doing our business plans and social media strategies, and it has definitely been worth it,” Henry said.
While things are slowly coming back, FBLA was not able to do a lot of the things they used to do pre-COVID. They are hoping next year to have everything completely back, including their haunted house, as well as going to a big conference somewhere.
While the program looks to have a bright future next year, Dr. Wooderson will be handing his position down and not continuing with Kickapoo FBLA.
“It is sad that Wooderson is leaving, but we are all really happy for him. We are also excited to meet the new teacher,” Henry said.
While FBLA is a winning program at Kickapoo, the group also values their friendships, creating many strong bonds and relationships throughout the year.
“It has been super fun. Everyone has been really nice and we have all gotten really close. I am so excited to see where next year takes us,” Henry said.
