We’ve all been there. You just finished a fire TV show, and you don’t know what to watch next. Many resort to rewatching something they’ve already seen, or just not watching anything altogether. (Let’s be honest, that’s probably the best option.) But if you need something to start next, you feel like you’ve watched everything known to man and you’ve already rewatched Outer Banks four times, here is a list of shows that might sound appealing.
Reacher
At first glance, many may see Reacher as a show for dads, and a little bit too serious for a binge watch. However, I think this is one of the most bingeable shows out there. Every episode ends with a twist, which makes you want to continue to the next one.
It’s a little hard to talk about the first season of Reacher without spoiling too much, but I think the Amazon biography for the first season does a good job at explaining it.
“When retired Military Police Officer Jack Reacher is arrested for a murder he did not commit, he finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy full of dirty cops, shady businessmen and scheming politicians. With nothing but his wits, he must figure out what is happening in Margrave, Georgia.”
If a mystery about murder and corrupt businessmen doesn’t pique your interest, maybe the next one on this list will.
1883
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a season of television faster than I did with 1883. This show is a prequel to the award-winning series Yellowstone, but that is not necessarily a must watch before starting 1883.
The story follows the Dutton family joining a wagon train, undertaking the arduous journey west to Oregon. Through their journey, they are faced with many threats and challenges such as Natives, outlaws, rivers, mountains, tornadoes, and wild animals.
The storyline is incredible, and by the end, you feel like you have developed real and authentic relationships with the characters.
But what makes 1883 special is the cinematography. It is easily the most beautiful show I’ve ever seen. I’ve traveled to some of these locations before, and I’ve never seen them portrayed in such a way.
The Watcher
One of the freakiest shows I’ve ever seen, The Watcher follows a family which moves into their dream home, only to be plagued by creepily nosy neighbors, and ominous letters from a “watcher” that detail sinister threats.
But the kicker here is that it is based on a true story. I had known a bit about the real life situation before watching, and the unsolved mystery really made me excited to watch a show about it.
The show does a great job of answering questions you might have, but also creates more questions than you initially asked. The Watcher was able to form a mystery that went deeper than just the mysterious letters, and left a lot to be answered in the next season.
It may be a good idea to hold off watching until the second season comes out, considering how many questions you’ll have by the end of the first season, but if The Watcher really appeals to you, definitely give it a try.
Night Agent
I am a sucker for espionage, spy thrillers. Night Agent doesn’t break any molds, but that shouldn’t be the standard for every streaming series.
It follows Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent assigned to one task – sit in an office and man a phone that never rings. Until one day it does, propelling him into a conspiracy that leads him all the way to the Oval Office.
Night Agent follows multiple different narratives. On one hand it’s a survival story. On the other, it’s a murder mystery. It perfectly intertwines the both, creating a compelling and highly rewatchable story.
Hopefully I chose a good assortment of shows that you probably haven’t seen yet, and I can personally guarantee you that at least one of these shows will be right up your alley.
