One Acts is a format where students from Drama or Drama Club present a single scene to an audience.
“One Acts are plays condensed into about 30 minutes, so it’s like a shorter form of theater,” Drama Club President Junior Sophia French said.
The students who are participating in One Acts have found the preparation experience to be rewarding and filled with enjoyable memories.
“The preparation for my One Act has been really fun and successful. I enjoy it very much and everyone is so friendly. I think it will be a great show,” Sophomore Harper Russell said.
Rehearsals for the Drama Club are held every Friday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In that time the students prepare and practice for One Acts by learning their places on stage, choreography, and props.
“We walk them through their blocking, tell them where to go on stage, and what their props are. As we go we will say what they need for costumes and set,” French said.
After the first couple weeks of rehearsals, the students are excited to share their hard work with the community.
“We are actually taking the One Acts to the elementary and middle schools in the area, so we don’t know all the dates yet because it will depend on when the schools are open, but it will be sometime in the beginning of December,” French said.
