The Kickapoo competition cheer team has set themselves up for success by placing at their regional competition this past September.

They competed against multiple other high school cheer teams and ended up placing 4th, which allows them to advance to state this coming December.

“I feel like we did really good. We had some mistakes, but that just comes with performing,” sophomore JV cheerleader Megan Dold said.

However, lots of work was put in to be prepared for regionals.

“We were having three hour practices from 5:30 to 8:30 where we did tons of team conditioning and built up our endurance,” Dold said.

However, the work has just begun for this team because now their eyes are set on the performance they will give at state.

“I know the practices will be a lot more strict, mainly focusing on higher level skills and definitely more conditioning,” Dold said.

Like regionals, they will be competing against other high school cheer teams in Missouri such as Staley and Willard. If they are successful, they will advance even further to a bigger competition.

“I think as a team our goal is to make it to nationals and make it further in the nationals process than we did last year,” Dold said.

Their season has only just started and Kickapoo is excited to see what they accomplish this year.
