One of the biggest milestones of a person’s life is their high school graduation. However, before someone can graduate, they first need to get the necessary items: a cap, gown, and tassel. If you are a senior in need of some help on what to do to make graduation as smooth as possible look no further than here.
“The only thing students are required to buy is a cap, gown, and tassel package, which costs $18 this year,” Counselor Shawn Wallace said.
If you are a senior needing to get your cap and gown go to the Josten’s website and enter your height and weight. Seniors will receive their caps and gowns closer to the graduation date.
Seniors who are planning to walk at graduation should be getting their cap and gown before second semester to avoid any problems that could happen closer to this important date.
Even though their high school career is coming to a close, seniors should still be working hard in all of their classes and setting themselves up for the best future possible, whether that is college, military, or entering the workforce.
“They should also start planning for their post-secondary plans. Students planning on going to college should make sure they complete all paperwork for their college and continue applying for scholarships,” Wallace said.
If there is a senior planning on joining the military they should be talking with recruiters to help set them up the best they can.
However, if a senior is not planning on attending college or going into the military then they should be thinking about job opportunities and filling out applications.
If seniors need additional information see the weekly newsletter from our principal Dr. Powers. There will also be an email sent out in March with more information regarding the end of the year. Additionally, towards the end of the year there will be a senior meeting for events like prom, Senior Send Off, and graduation. Any further questions should be directed to the student’s counselor.
Seniors should start to prepare for this big step now, rather than later, to ensure the smoothest transition possible!
