Throughout the months of April through September, the weather is hot and can be the perfect time to hang outside.

While there are many things to do outside, such as play sports, go out with friends and more, what are you to do when it gets too hot?

Reading is a great way to cool off during the summer months while still keeping your mind active. Here are five books releasing this summer that you can anticipate reading and enjoy when they finally release.

   #1

   Title: Five Broken Blades

   Author: Mai Coland

   Publication date: May 7

If you’re a fan of fantasy, thriller, and romance, this book is a good one to look forward to. This book is based around five ruthless killers all with different deadly motives. This book is set to be a feast of treason inspired by a Korean myth.

If you’ve read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, this book will be similar, as they both have six different perspectives in their stories.

   #2

   Title: You Like It Darker

   Author: Stephen King

   Publication date: May 21

When horror clashes with thriller, you know it’s going to be a good book. This book is a collection of 12  different stories set around physical and physiological dark parts of life. If you’ve read any of King’s other books like IT, or if you’re looking to get into his books, this would be a great place to start.

   #3

   Title: Not In Love

   Author: Ali Hazelwood

   Publication date: June 11

A romance between workers of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and business is not a book I would’ve initially recommended. Seeing this book is written by what book worms like to call, the queen of STEM, Ali Hazelwood, I would highly recommend waiting for this book’s release. I’ve read all of Hazelwoods STEM romances, such as The Love Hypothesis and loved all of them with a passion. If you like female empowerment within a male dominated field, or just love a classic enemies to lovers trope–this might just be the book for you.

   #4

   Title: The Great Hemisphere

   Author: Mateo Askaripour

   Publication date: July 9

If The Hunger Games floats your boat, this upcoming book will make you just as excited. This dystopian book follows a girl who was born invisible but was somehow accused of her brother’s disappearance. As the character goes to search for evidence, she gets caught up in political upbringings and chooses to try and change the world.

   #5

   Title: The Demon of Unrest

   Author: Erik Larson

   Publication date: April 30

Nonfiction isn’t everyone’s go-to for a book, but even I, an avid reader of all things fiction, am looking forward to this release. This book takes a journey through the five months between Abraham Lincoln’s election and the firing on Fort Sumter. If history is your favorite subject, or you just like to learn new things, I would recommend picking up this book and giving it a try.
