Our girls’ swim team is about to start their season in November. Last year the girls’ team did an incredible job competing individually and as a whole. What makes up the team are the players and teammates.
As November is getting closer, senior Morgan Seiler is excited for her final year of high school swim.
“My proudest moments of last season were that I was in a state relay, I placed well at All City, and my 500 freestyle time was six minute, nine seconds,” Seiler said.
A six minute nine second swim in a 500 meter freestyle race is a good time. Seiler said she has seen significant improvement and change since her freshman year.
Although sporting teams change in various ways in between seasons, the girls’ swim team had some great achievements last season.
“We went to state as a team, and had all three relays swim at state. We also had a swimmer, who made one of her individual events,” Seiler said.
Seiler has been a competitive swimmer since she was 10. She swam for Missouri State Aquatics, when she was younger and is currently swimming for Springfield Aquatics.
Seiler has swam for our high school team since she was a freshman.
Seiler said her goals have changed over the years and that she really hopes to reach her new goals this year.
“[I want] to go to state in the 400 freestyle relay and to make finals in my 100 and 500 freestyle at South West MO,” Seiler said.
High school sports seasons are typically fun for students in many ways. Whether that is traveling together, winning together, or even excelling individually.
“One of my favorite travel memories was last year during our Kirkwood Invite meet when the whole team was swimming in the outdoor/indoor hotel pool and it was snowing,” Seiler said.
Seiler has had her ups and downs, but at the end of each season, she always has something to look back on that she is proud of.
“My favorite thing that happened to me over my high school seasons was finding out I got to go to state my sophomore year and swim at state,” Seiler said.
Although Seiler has seen changes, struggles, bonding, and achievements over her four years doing high school swim, she is excited to see what her senior year will bring her and what goals she will reach.
