Spotify Wrapped came a day early this year and with it new features such as Sound Town, genre sandwiches, and being able to blend your top songs with friends. However, much like the 16 Spotify listening personalities from last year, this year we got 12 different streaming habits, which Spotify calls, “Me in 2023.”
Some people are devout fans of a specific artist, and this makes them the Fanatic. This means your top artist made up more than a third of your time on Spotify.
However, the Shapeshifter is quite the opposite, jumping from one favorite artist to another.
The Cyclops prefers to not focus on one artist but keeps his eye on a specific genre.
The Mastermind is the opposite, taking in as much information they can and being interested in a variety of genres.
While the Mastermind is always looking for a new genre, some are on the prowl for songs, probably why the Hunters are more prone to skipping tracks than others.
Others who want a blast from the past already know what they want. Time travelers are always replaying their favorite tracks and reliving the moment.
For the Roboticist, the future is now, trusting the Spotify algorithm to do its thing rather than pick a specific playlist or track.
There’s also creators such as the Alchemist, who makes new playlists far more frequently than others.
The Collector is similar, however they are more likely to actually listen to their own playlists.
The Hypnotist is drawn in, not by playlists, but by albums. They’re the friend that listens to an album from beginning to end.
The Vampire was one of the more stand-out personalities due to it being about the feeling of the music, rather than how you listen. Spotify describes it as listening to more emotional, atmospheric music, which would be perfect for the Vampire.
The Luminary, while also being based on what you listen to, is the opposite of the Vampire. It means you prefer to listen to more upbeat, whimsical music.
This year, users also got sound towns, a feature where it shows the town you match up most with based on music taste, some areas being more popular than others such as Berkeley, California, and some rarer places such as Jakarta, Indonesia. There are more than 1,300 towns available, but selection comes down to two factors, a user’s most streamed artist and how those artists are streamed in other cities.
With Spotify wrapping the year up, you can enjoy the shame-free period of listening until January where Spotify starts tracking your listening to share your taste and favorites with you once again.
