Bagwell Lights
The Bagwell Lights are a home light display run by Mike Bagwell and his family in Springfield. The Bagwell family house was always one that went all-out on Christmas lights. Over the years, people were so interested in their lights that the Bagwells responded to the demand and synced music to their lights, putting Christmas jingles on a radio station for passersby. Since then, the place has become a full-blown tourist attraction each year. Today, you can drive up to the house on 2008 E Cambridge St. to enjoy the show for free.
Park Central Square in Downtown Springfield
The square is the perfect place for a thrilling night out. Get a fresh chop at the surrounding barber shops then head to one of the many delicious restaurants or coffee shops. There is plenty of beautiful scenery, including a 49 foot or five story tall Christmas tree lit up with thousands of lights. Its extravagance makes the tree a great place to take photos together. The festive mood is incredibly contagious in the square; it’s a feeling you only understand once you visit. As a result, the square has everything you need for a memorable night.
Gardens Aglow
From November 24 to December 31 at Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, the Gardens Aglow event allows you to experience the bliss of the outdoors while strolling through a path dabbled with over 200,000 meticulously placed holiday lights. See them light up the unique Japanese architecture, landscaping, and botanical masterpieces. Unfortunately, the weather can get pretty nasty late at night in these Winter months. However, there are firepits to snuggle up by along with local food vendors where you can purchase hot beverages and tasty treats. These include hot cocoa, coffee, charcuterie eating, and apple cider.
Trail of Lights
This one isn’t exactly in Springfield, but it’s worth the trek to Branson, MO. The Trail of Lights has been a classic attraction for over 30 years, making it the longest-running drive-through Christmas event in Branson. Not only is it the longest, but it’s the largest at seven million square feet of Christmas spirit. Can you count to seven million? Well, you don’t have to. Have a look at the miles upon miles of multicolored Christmas-themed animated displays at the Trail of Lights at Shepherd of the Hills homestead. There is also free hot chocolate, from which the proceeds go to charity.
