Rating School Bathrooms

School bathrooms should be very sanitary and clean. Every single day, students and teachers use bathrooms at their school.

If you’re in a building for eight hours a day, eventually you’ll have to use the restroom. Everything from the stalls, odor, cleanliness and lighting may determine whether you use a specific bathroom or not. Let’s see which one is the best bathroom to use at Kickapoo.

COMMONS BATHROOMS

Girls: The stalls are brand new. There isn’t a smell. This set of bathrooms are the cleanest bathrooms in the school, without a doubt. The lighting is almost perfect for a school bathroom, but there are no mirrors to use that good lighting… so that docks a point. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 9/10.

Boys: Considering these bathrooms were just renovated this summer, the stalls were already drawn on. For how disgusting it was, I was expecting some sort of smell but there was none. Although these are an easy fix, there was feces in the urinals and many weren’t flushed. The lighting is the same as the girls. The boys also have no mirrors. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 6/10.

ATHLETIC ENTRANCE BATHROOMS

Girls: The stalls are fine until you get to the weird little hallway to get to the other stalls. Everything is old and it smells musty. For some reason that specific bathroom is so warm, it intensifies the musty smell even more. I guess it’s clean but many things are broken so it makes it look messy. The lighting is very yellow. However, it has one big side mirror as well as a mirror for each sink, which is nice. Since these bathrooms aren’t off a main hallway many students don’t know these bathrooms exist, giving them more privacy. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 7/10.

Boys: The stalls were not drawn on. The smell & warmth was the same as the girls bathroom was. The cleanliness wasn’t the best but it seemed pretty normal for a bathroom. The lighting was yellow too but i’m sure pictures aren’t what the guys are fixated on when using the bathroom. The boys are also not so busy. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 7/10.

DOWNSTAIRS MAIN HALLWAY BATHROOMS

Girls: The stalls are painted over different colors and almost always have some sort of writing on them. The smell is typically horrid. It’s honestly never clean, even at the very beginning of the school day. There’s only one working soap dispenser and even that has parts broken off of it and the paper towels usually are empty or jammed. The lighting could be better, it’s kind of dim. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 6/10.

Boys: The stalls aren’t too bad and there are a bunch of them. For odor, it was just the typical bathroom stench. For cleanliness, it wasn’t too bad, just a little dirty. I hate to admit it but, the lighting was pretty decent. There were no mirrors though, if that matters to you. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 7/10.

UPSTAIRS MAIN HALLWAY BATHROOMS

Girls: There is graffiti art on most of the stalls. One of the doors doesn’t even have a lock. The toilets themselves are either a hit or miss, sometimes they’re clean, sometimes they’re very far from it. Odor just smells like a porta potty most of the time. The mirror is chipped so badly I wouldn’t even call it a chip, it’s more like a chunk. The lighting is about the same as the downstairs one. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 6/10.

Boys:  The stalls themselves aren’t completely terrible. For odor, it was just the typical bathroom stench. For cleanliness, the sinks, floor and toilets were nasty. The lighting was also pretty decent. There was one big horizontal mirror, with smudges and water all over it. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 4/10.

DOWNSTAIRS EAST SIDE BATHROOMS

Girls: Unless you get the chance to use the big stall when the “vapers” aren’t in it, consider yourself literally crushed while using one of the other stalls. Even if you do get to use the big stall, there’s no lock. Regardless of the space, this bathroom is decently clean. Yes, there will be toilet paper and paper towel pieces on the floor but the soap dispensers are there and towels are always stocked. The lighting is pretty good and the mirror isn’t scratched or smudged. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 7/10.

Boys: The stalls were clean and well kept. There was oddly not really a smell. Everything is relatively clean, just a few paper towels here and there. The lighting was okay. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 8/10.

UPSTAIRS EAST SIDE BATHROOMS

Girls: Stalls are probably the best besides the newly renovated bathroom. There really was no specific odor in this one, thankfully. The toilets and sinks were clean and everything was in place. The lighting was okay but there was a mirror at least. Overall, I rate this bathroom an 8/10.

Boys:  The stalls were clean and well kept. There was a slight attic smell to it, but nothing horrible. Same as the downstairs, everything is relatively clean, just a few paper towels here and there. The lighting was better than the downstairs one. Overall, I rate this bathroom a 7/10.
