This summer, many people will take a trip to their local pool to float down the lazy-river, take a dip in the water, and sunbathe. However, some people’s lack of manners can easily turn a fun pool day into an unenjoyable experience. With that said, here’s the ultimate guide on how to not be an annoyance to those at the pool this summer.
Don’t Steal Seats.
On hot days, chances are you’re not the only one who wants to spend time by the pool. Because of this, there is a chance that many, or possibly all, seats will be taken. Although it can be frustrating, that’s not an excuse to move someone’s belongings onto the wet, gross concrete so that you can have a lounge chair. Instead of carelessly tossing other’s towels, bags, or whatever else they may have onto the ground, simply either get there earlier or lay out your towel on a patch of grass; don’t let your pickiness or lack of preparation become someone else’s problem.
Use Respectful Language.
This one may sound a bit unreasonable, but remember, any public pool you go to will most likely have children there. This isn’t to say that you can’t be “expressive” with your language, but definitely keep it to a minimum, or at least don’t scream swear words. As a teenager, it can be hard to filter yourself in public, but being mindful is important.
Clean-up After Yourself.
This rule should go without saying, however, unfortunately, many people can’t seem to simply throw away their trash. If you crack open a water bottle or rip open a bag of chips, make sure that your garbage makes it into the trashcan before you jump back into your pool activities. The last thing anybody wants while relaxing in the pool is a candy wrapper floating by…gross.
